Here is How to Customize your iPhone Home Screen with iOS 14
The days of our useless and aesthetically pleasing Pinterest boards are over. We finally get to put them to use! I am the queen of spending countless hours on Pinterest just to have all of the photos saved to a board that I never look at. Come on, we‘re all guilty of this.
The new iOS 14 update for the iPhone comes with the opportunity to change your app icons. It’s like Apple was speaking directly to us aesthetic lovers. This is our dream come true, no more ugly icons! Our home screen can now transform into a real life Pinterest board. The only downside to changing your icons is that the “shortcuts” app opens for a split second before opening the apps. Alright, let’s get into the nitty gritty.
- Open the Shortcuts App
2. Click the + in the top right corner
3. Click Add Action
4. Click the search bar
5. Type Open App
6. Click Open App
7. Click Choose
8. Search for the app you want to open in the search bar and click on it
9. Click the three dots in the top right corner
10. Rename the shortcut (e.g. Instagram)
11. Click Add to Home Screen
12. Rename the shortcut again (e.g. Instagram)
13. Click the icon photo sitting the left of the name
14. Click Choose Photo
15. Choose the icon
16. Click Choose
17. Click Add
18. Click Done
This process is fairly easy and takes less than a minute once you get the hang of it. To get the complete aesthetic look, you can download the Widgetsmith app to add aesthetic photos. I go through that entire process in a tutorial on YouTube.
I have more tutorials on my Instagram and YouTube. You can get the aesthetic icons you saw in this article here. For aesthetic photos organized by color, check out my Pinterest.
